What does UK short term car insurance signify in a philosophical
sense? What are the underlying philosophical correlates that relate
to UK short term insurance? Let us explore these questions.
Transitory Quality of All Phenomena
One theme that UK temporary car insurance correlates to is the
transitory or passing quality of all phenomena. In this case the
phenomenon is a person driving a car. The driving period being only
a temporary condition, the car insurance is also temporary. Most UK
short term car insurance companies offer policy periods ranging from
one day, to a few weeks, to month to month recurring policies that
can be cancelled any month. This reminds one of, for instance, the
transitory quality of the body itself. It is only the vehicle for
the soul or spirit for, cosmically speaking, a short period of time.
It’s easy to see the people who are more aware of this will consider
the “insurance” of the physical world temporary. They will not
become overidentified with their own phenomenal situations and use
them exclusively for some sense assurance but will rather realize
they are temporary and short term. They can thus be enjoyed more
fully without the sense of anxiety that comes from attachment to
illusory and misplaced ideas of permanence.
Process Awareness
This essentially leads to what might be known as process awareness.
One realizes that all phenomena are not static but rather in
process. They are in fact, a process. Process awareness allows for a
much more realistic and yet free interpretation of objects, events,
people, situations, and so on. These are all processes – dynamic
rather than static.
How does this relate to taking out a temporary car insurance policy?
Even the car itself is a passing, ever changing process. Its
“thingness” only comes from a very orderly sense of its process. The
short term experience of a specific driver driving is, similarly a
process. This is a series of occurrences wherein an individual gets
behind the wheel, drives the vehicle for some brief period, and then
stops driving it. The short term policy is a temporary process
wherein a company considers this individual insured against various
damages during this brief period.
All of these things – the car, the driver, the occurrence and
experience of driving, and the policy itself, are transient
conditions in which go through their process and then become
something else. The car will eventually be refurbished, sold,
junked, rust, and turn into more basic elements, themselves to
continue on and become still other compounds. The individual will
die and return to an extraphysical existence to probably later take
on some other reincarnational form. The policy will cease to be in
effect and the company will insure other drivers while the
individual drives other cars and takes out other insurance policies.
Generosity
People often take out temporary insurance policies so they can
insure people who are borrowing their cars. UK short term car
insurance thus has important associations with generosity. The
policies allow either the car owner or the party borrowing the car
to initiate the coverage, as long as both parties agree to it. This
represents the fact that generosity and process awareness tend to go
together. If you realize that everything is part of an
interconnected process, you are more likely to be generous. This is
similar to the “loving kindness” of Buddhism that comes from an
enlightened sense of the connectedness and also process based
quality of all things.
